York Judicial Center
The York Judicial Center (YJC) is scheduled to fully open to the public in May 2023.

Building Highlights
- Fully accessible, 3-story building; front entrance drop-off loop
- Ample public parking
- Adjacent to public transportation: (Biddeford Saco Old Orchard Beach Transit and York County Community Action Corp. Transportation)
- Entry screening during all business hours
- Spacious waiting and lobby areas featuring public art commissioned under the Maine Percent for Art program
- Public WIFI access
- Family and companion care restrooms; single-user all-gender restrooms; and a private lactation room
- Seven Clerk's Office windows
- Language line adjacent to the Clerk's Office for limited-English proficient (LEP) visitors
- Secure in-person arraignment, detention, and support areas
- Video arraignment capability
- Ten total courtrooms, including three jury courtrooms
- All courtrooms equipped with state-of-the-art Audio/Visual and video conferencing technology
- 27 Attorney/Client conference and mediation rooms
Eco-Friendly & Energy Efficient Features
- All electric building; no fossil fuel consumption
- 70 geothermal wells drilled to depths of 500 ft to reduce heating and cooling costs
- Hydronic snowmelt systems for main entrance and service drive to maintain a safe approach and reduce the building's use of melting agents, like salt
- High efficiency lighting throughout the facility and parking lots
- Rooftop solar panels (Fall 2023 installation) offset electrical demand by roughly 15%
- Air conditioning with CO2 monitoring and occupancy sensors
- Electric Vehicle (EV) chargers in parking lots
Timeline
- February 3, 2023- Certificate of Occupancy granted
- February-March 2023- Office equipment, furniture, and computer equipment installation
- April 2023-Current York County court locations moving to the YJC:
- Week of April 17-York County Superior Court
- Week of April 24-Biddeford District Court
- Week of May 1-Springvale and York District Courts
