The York Judicial Center (YJC) is scheduled to fully open to the public in May 2023.

  • Fully accessible, 3-story building; front entrance drop-off loop

  • 70 geothermal wells drilled to depths of 500 ft to reduce heating and cooling costs
  • Hydronic snowmelt systems for main entrance and service drive to maintain a safe approach and reduce the building's use of melting agents, like salt
  • High efficiency lighting throughout the facility and parking lots
  • Rooftop solar panels (Fall 2023 installation) offset electrical demand by roughly 15%
  • Air conditioning with CO2 monitoring and occupancy sensors
  • Electric Vehicle (EV) chargers in parking lots

Timeline

  • February 3, 2023- Certificate of Occupancy granted
  • February-March 2023- Office equipment, furniture, and computer equipment installation
  • April 2023-Current York County court locations moving to the YJC:
    • Week of April 17-York County Superior Court
    • Week of April 24-Biddeford District Court
    • Week of May 1-Springvale and York District Courts
