Eviction (Forcible Entry Detainer (FED))

"Forcible Entry and Detainer (FED)" is another name for an eviction case. Evictions are heard by the district court where the property is located.

During the COVID-19 public health emergency, the first court event that will be scheduled in an FED by the clerk's office will be a telephone conference. The FED Summons and Complaint or Scheduling Notice will list the date and time of the phone conference and the phone number for the parties to call. See COVID-19 FAQs on evictions for more.

Mediation is available in eviction cases. If ordered by the court in the initial telephone conference, mediation will take place by telephone or video.
