Maine eCourts On Track to Launch in York County Courts this March

Date: 1/12/2026

The Maine Judicial Branch announced today that the second implementation of Maine eCourts and electronic filing (eFiling) in 2026 is on track to be implemented in Judicial Region 1. Judicial Region 1 comprises the York County state courts located at the York Judicial Center in Biddeford. The transition from paper filing to eFiling is planned to "go live" on Monday, March 30, 2026 and will include all pending civil and criminal cases. The Region 1 go-live is scheduled to follow the launch of Maine eCourts in all Region 4 courts - Augusta, Waterville, and Skowhegan on February 2, 2026.

Back-to-back implementations planned for the first quarter of 2026 in two of the state's busiest Judicial Regions advance the Judicial Branchs goal of completing the transition to eCourts and eFiling by the end of 2026. We have set an ambitious schedule to complete our transition to Maine eCourts by the end of this year, said Chief Justice Valerie Stanfill. We will undoubtedly encounter challenges along the way, but this schedule is a reflection of the incredible dedication and skill of the eCourts project team at the Judicial Branch and the hard work of all of our partners and stakeholders in the justice community, law enforcement, and public safety.

Maine eCourts is a suite of applications and web-based tools provided by Tyler Technologies' Enterprise Justice Software. The system allows for the management of court dockets and hearings, storage of digital case files, eFiling, and online payments. Attorneys, state and local government entities, and those who file more than six cases in a calendar year will be required to eFile when the system launches. Self-represented litigants (parties who do not have attorneys) who file fewer than six cases in a calendar year will not be required to eFile.
