NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING ON
ACCESS TO ELECTRONIC COURT RECORDS

The Maine Supreme Judicial Court will hold a public hearing at 9:00 a.m.
on Thursday, June 7, 2018, at the Capital Judicial Center in Augusta, in
Courtroom 7, to receive oral comments regarding access to electronic
court records as electronic filing is implemented.

Any person may make oral comments to the Court at the public hearing.
Depending on the number of individuals wishing to comment, time for
each comment may be limited. Commenters need not be attorneys to
make comments on behalf of themselves or any organization. Any person
intending to make comments must arrive at the courtroom and report to
the Clerk by 8:50 a.m. to support setting of time limits and organizing the
order of presentation of comments, if needed.

Information that has been collected on issues of public access and privacy
considerations regarding electronic court records, including the report of
the Judicial Branch Task Force on Transparency and Privacy in Court
Records and the comments and responses received in response to that
report, are publicly available through the internet on the Judicial Branch
website at www.courts.maine.gov/tap.
