Notice Regarding Requests for Records Searches
Important Information Regarding a Change in Record Search Processing
The Maine Judicial Branch implemented a pilot program to enable the Judicial Branch Service Center, located in Lewiston, Maine, to process record checks typically performed by court clerks. The pilot started on July 1, 2014 in the York County Superior Court in Alfred and is now expanding to include record checks conducted at the Springvale District Court.
On September 2, 2014, the Service Center will expand its pilot program to the Springvale District Court. The York County Superior Court in Alfred will continue to participate in the pilot and the remaining courts in the State will be incrementally brought into the pilot throughout the remainder of the year.
Below is information regarding how the pilot will affect record check requests being requested at the York County Superior Court and Springvale District Court:
- All record check requests must be submitted using the Request for Records Search form. Requests submitted using any other form will be returned to the requestor and they will be asked to re-submit the request on the correct form. This form is available to download from the Judicial Branch website at: http://www.courts.maine.gov/fees_forms/forms/pdf_forms/misc/records.shtml.
- Requests are to be mailed to the Judicial Branch Service Center, PO Box 266, Lewiston, ME 04243. This address is also listed on the top of the form.
- The Service Center is located within the Violations Bureau, located at 85 Park St., Lewiston, ME. If a party or organization prefers to hand deliver the record check request, the form can be brought to the public window at 85 Park St., Lewiston, ME, from 9:00 a.m. – 3 p.m., Monday through Friday.
